The template
Dear [landlord or agent name], Return of tenancy deposit — [property address] My tenancy at the above property ended on [date]. My deposit of £[amount] is protected with [name of deposit scheme] under reference [scheme reference]. I am writing to request the return of the deposit in full. [If deductions have been proposed, answer them one at a time:] You have proposed a deduction of £[amount] for [item]. I do not agree, because [your reason — refer to the check-in and check-out reports, photographs, or fair wear and tear]. Please return £[amount] to [account details or "the account the rent was paid from"] within [10] days of the date of this letter.
